VeerapandiaKattaBomman Street – KilingalKulamis a local pond belongs to Revenue Department and maintained by GCC. Water is partly available in the pond and is pale brownish in colour. Catchment area is connected to the pond through the opening in berm wall.  The pond is not connected to any upstream & downstream water sources, gets storage during the monsoon. Benefits from the implementation of this project include improved water quality by providing constructed wetland and aquatic floating island. Due to de-silting, water storage will increase and made available throughout the year. Fish culture will be developed. The pond can be developed as a spot of recreation to the local residents. With proper counseling and guidance by the GCC Engineers, the Resident Association will take care of the pond and hence, water body will be protected. The pond has been restored under the Chennai Smart City project funds.
