Panchayat Main Road Kulam is a local pond belongs to Revenue Department and maintained by GCC. Catchment area is connected to the pond through the local network of SWD. The pond is not connected to any upstream & downstream water sources, gets storage during the monsoon. Benefits from the implementation of this project include improvement of year-round storage of water with construction of inlet and connecting SWD. This helps in improved water quality by providing aquatic floating island and diversion of sewage discharge. Due to de-silting, water storage will increase and made available throughout the year. Fish culture will be developed. The pond serves as a spot of recreation to the local residents. With proper counseling and guidance by the GCC Engineers, the Resident Association will take care of the pond and hence, water body will be protected. Walkway is provided with safety arrangements.  The pond has been restored under the Chennai Smart City project funds.
