ET 'Best Education Solution' Award goes to Chennai
Chennai Smart City Limited was awarded for “Best Smart Education Solution” at the Annual Smart Cities Award 2019 event held in New Delhi on 15th November 2019. The award was received by Mr. M. Govinda Rao, Managing Director CSCL & Deputy Commissioner (Works), GCC. Mr. A.S. Murugan, Executive Engineer (Buildings Dept, GCC) and Mrs. Nalina Kumari, Assistant Education Officer (GCC) were also present. The event was organised by ET Government, an initiative of the Economic Times.
Greater Chennai Corporation and Chennai Smart City Limited were recognised for incorporating the best features of digital transformation for in the 28 Smart Class project. The projects aim at improving the education teaching-learning methods by digitising the classrooms in Corporation run schools.
The Smart Class project has been done in collaboration with Samsung India Electronics Ltd, as a part of their CSR initiative. The project has implemented 28 digital classrooms in 28 Corporation-run schools across the city. Smart Class was inaugurated in May 2018 and for the past one year, it has benefited the schools teacher-student-parent community immensely. On an average the class attendance, participation and pass percentages have increased in all the schools. The project has been highly successful and has been selected to be replicated across 3000 schools in Tamil Nadu by the State Education Department.
